When I started elog I got the following message: "One ore more of your databases are emtpty, it is recommended to run a database update" 2 issues here: 1) If I answer yes there is an error box stating that I have not administartion privileges (I use W Vista on my laptop and I am the only user so I would expect to be "Master and Commander") 2) then elog carries on updating the databases (not the program). During the process (at about 78% when it starts installing the dbs) I get an error and elog shuts down. And final issue, I had an english version before updating and now, after the update, I have a spanish language one. What happened? Thanks |
| Further information: | 2010-02-21 ========== 1) I would like to investigate this issue any further because the problem has not been reported before. 2) It looks like this problem happens to a few users but it could not be recognized yet. Further investigation is in progress. 3) The actual version of eLog determines the Windows language settings on first program startup. It looks like it determined a Spanish Windows installed on your computer. You can override the selection by choosing another language using the options window 'program'. 2010-02-24 ========== 3) The program behaves like it has been designed and correctly determines the language used on Windows. The user uses a Spanish version of Windows. |

PRINTING (1) At the moment printing is the weak point: I can print only as it is! As I start adding my logs from the last, I'ld like to print page by page to add to my printed copy, but I can't choose the logs I want to be printed: only the whole of them! I can choose from printing preferences page which page(s) I want (not in the program, not which logs). At the bottom of each page 'total of this page'-'total from previous page'-'total' boxes are missing. 2. PRINTING (2) The actual printing doesn't take into consideration previous activity: after 2 page of record starting inserting from the last, on printed log I have about 1000 flight hours, even if in my personal page other 7000 are stated. Can you eventually add a nb2 page stating previous activity? 3. MEDICAL CHECK REMINDER Medical check for pilots over 40 are two a year, at least in Italy: any chance to add a box in personal info page so that a reminder will be set after 6 months? 4. DATE FORMAT At the moment the date format is yyyy-mm-dd. I can go with that, but is there any chance to let the user to choose the format he likes, at least among the most common (and suggested by the program) ones (i.e. yyyy-mm-dd; dd-mm-yyyy; dd-mm-yy)? However, it has been considered and will be implemented in the next release. The missing lines on the bottom of each page have been implemented and will be available with the next release. 2) This bug has been fixed in the upcoming release of eLog. 3) This request has been considered and is scheduled for the upcoming release of eLog. 4) The date format selection depends on the language pack that is currently in use. There is no Italian pack right now so the date format will stick to the international format. Another way is to make a complete backup of the "%APPDATA%\elog" directory. |

The airports are all contained in the users local database otherwise there would not be an error message saying that an airport could not be saved because the ICAO code already existed. Further troubleshooting is necessary to confirm behaviour. There simply is no feature to do so: PIC names in the PIC combobox on the flight add and edit windows are those that have been saved for at least one flight that is currently saved in your logbook. The only way to delete the PIC from that combobox is to remove it from all flights where it has been used. If necessary I could provide you with the registrations of our aircraft so you could add those too and link it together. As a sugestion, will be possible to add a feature so as to input dates on different formats? | Further information: | 2009-02-13: The problem occures because the file format of the import files has been changed by DLH at the beginning of February. The new format has been analyzed and the import routines have been adapted to cope with the new import file format. So this item is fixed in the next release of eLog. |

| Further information: | 2009-01-25: Issue seems to occur only on some computers and cannot be reproduced on any of my machines and has only been reported by one user so far. Issue is under further investigation. 2009-01-26: Investigation showed that there is a major problem with the database engine (which is part of the Windows operating system) installation on the user's computer. The database engine fails to initialize due to a not correct installed engine. Checked installed versions of database engine without any findings (version is uptodate). Therefor an update using Windows automatic update as well as manual update were unsuccessful. 2009-01-27 Improved error handling for database engine initialization. Tests on users machine were successful, eLog did not crash any more. The bugfix will be included in the next release. Ticket closed. |
